Denzel Washington once said...

Not too long ago,I watched this short online w/ Michae B. Jordan being interviewed. They were asking him the normal questions about his fame & popularity & everything but then one question; leading to one response in particular, really stuck w/ me.

In a nutshell, the question was about him taking on more roles in different projects he had received. I mean, this was right after the hit “Sinners” was making cinematic history, so the man was on a  “hot” streak. He made mentioned that he had been offered roles, but, by his choosing, he is being very selective & rather be more in connection w/ the ppl he has a chemistr with - to be fair, I might be blurring a couple videos w/ this answer 😉.   But, his reason overall was one that, I personally can resonate with!

“Why would they pay to see you on a weekend if they can see you all week for free?”

Powerful! This is a reflection on “overexposure”. Being everywhere and/or easily accessible to everyone. Now, the purpose of Mr. Washington's message wasn't just for projects - but it was more towards Jordan being overexposed via social media. If everyone can see you DAILY, then there's less anticipation for when you come out on opening nights.

This is ANOTHER reason why most of my art is rarely on social media and/or I'm rarely “seen” on platforms. I DO TOTALLY understand how, in today's world, getting your brand out or hyper-exposure is the norm - but along w/ that you can get a fatigue of so much of it. I understand that many of us are in a constant “need” to see or be seen - you want to stay relevant. When before, hearing something or seeing something in a rarity, gave u a certain power of anticipation & hype; which helped in a more of a "guarantee" of success than not. Today, it's a risk of “being forgotten” or not discovered at all. Well, if that's the case, what's the difference between not being seen & unknown vs overexposure & irrelevance?

It's definitely a risk, either way & depending on how the creator(s) wanna play ball wwI'll determine the league. Luckily, we can also determine our own rules.

So, all of this was to explain the reasoning of why i am NOT so hyper on social media & choose to decide to create my own path w/ my own buzz in my own lane! I'm creating my very own strategic method to stick out from the crowd & create my own relevance…w/ “MY fan base”. We are our own lil gang; and as your leader, sit tight & enjoy this show togethe
